Darbha (Desmotachya bipinnata) or Kusa is a tropical grass considered a sacred material in Vedic scriptures and is said to purify the offerings during such rituals. Darbha was traditionally used for making āsanas (seats for prayer and meditation). A darbhāsana aids in meditation and protects the person who sits on it from all sorts of negative spiritual energies. This mat has been rubberized for extra grip, making it ideal for hatha yoga apart from being an ideal choice as a seat for meditation.
